SSC CGL no doubt is of the best career option for candidates looking for career in various ministries.
Due to time constraint, one may found it difficult to prepare for Civil Services but one can think of cracking SSC as it does not require a hardcore preparation.
Any one with average mindset, with fair knowledge of current affairs, maths , reasoning can crack it.
Here is the detail description of SSC Tier 1 Paper:
There are four sections in Tier 1 Paper:
1. Reasoning: It comprise of 50 questions each carrying one marks. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. 80% of the questions consist of verbal reasoning which mainly comprised of pattern analysis, finding odd one out, some mathematical questions as well.
Rest 20% questions consist of Non verbal reasoning questions which are mainly related to figure out related matching figures from different patterns.
2. Maths: It also consist of 50 Questions with similar terms as mentioned above for reasoning.
Most of the questions are from 10th Level mainly consist of Average, algebra, ration proportion, time and distance, work and times, etc.
Any one who has average understanding of above chapters can do well after little bit of practice.
3. General Knowledge: This is the most easy or probably the most difficult section to score. It totally depends on one' memory from school life and his/her involvement in current affairs of politics, sports events etc.
You can score maximum marks without spending more time as compared to other sections. Aspirant with week maths/reasoning can actually pay more focus on it and compensate their marks on account of loss in difficult sections.
4. English: This is one of the section where you don't need to put more focus but yes a little focus would always be required. This section has questions like, finding errors from a sentence, Idioms and Phrase, One word substitution, Voice, speech etc.
Here some of my tips from my personal experience for the exam:
1. Time management is a key. No matter you know the solution of a question or not, always attempt question which can be solved quickly and your are rest assured of solution.
Though there are many opinions about picking or prioritizing various sections for saving time in exam.
What I suggest or what I adopted was following sequence:
1.Reasoning: It may take max up to 30-45 minutes.
2.GK : It may taken max 10 minutes.
3.English: Between 15-25 minutes.
4.Maths : You will have good 50-60 minutes to solve maths.
Again, this is a suggestion and mine experience. One may be good with other section and would prefer a different sequence and that's right too.
2. Keep circling answer papers along with solving questions. Do not solve first and then start circling answer sheet. There are two common losses :
A. You might ran out of time and even though you solved the question, won't get the time to cicrcle the answer as invigilator would snatch the paper the very moment bell rings. Its better you keep both things parallel to avoid such situation.
B. At the end of the time, you will be in rush and hence there is probability of m,marking wrong answer for correctly solved questions.
3. If possible, practice and make as many as samples you can withing the defines time to know where you stand and how much you have to work further to be acquainted with time.
At the end... Give your best and expect the worse..Do you Karma but don't dream of good or bad result because it will be as per your effort and hard work which you have done for this exam.
